Infraocclusion – an anomaly in primary dentition

Infraocclusion is a developmental abnormality that affects tooth lying below the plane of occlusion. It most common in children with mixed dentition, past age six. usually noticeable posterior part dental arch, involving one deciduous molars. The presence infraocclusion can be identified by clinical examination or on radiographs. aim study was to present literature review incidence primary molars various populations and further management. covered publications from last 20 years. following online databases were searched: PubMed, Google Scholar, Scopus. Eight scientific papers eligible for review. inclusion criteria as follows: children, without systemic diseases syndromes, infraocclusion. analysed studies show process small number teeth – two infraoccluded condition shows no predilection any sex. Across different populations, percentage affected ranges 2.8% 21.8%. With age, there decrease mild infraocclusion, an increase moderate (ages 8–10) severe 11–13) forms condition. Our reveals often mandible, mainly first and, older second treatment patients should planned individually, considering subjects their status. Tooth extraction performed extremely cases, which are uncommon.
